YouTube: Goodbye Colbert Report
p2pnet.net News:- Pretty soon, you won’t see anything on GooTube that hasn’t received a big corporate A for Acceptable.
Close to 30,000 videos have already been dumped because of alleged problems cited by “copyright-related rights organizations,” and it was recently revealed that the video view site has not only been tracking uploaders, it’s actually given details on at least one of them to Paramount.
Now, “I received a couple of emails from YouTube this afternoon notifying me that a third party (probably attorneys for Comedy Central) had made a DMCA request to take down Colbert Report and Daily Show clips,” says NewsCloud.
“If you visit YouTube, all Daily Show, Colbert Report and South Park clips now show ‘This video has been removed due to terms of use violation’.”
What’ll be next? Stay tuned.

I can understand taking down whole episodes for shows, but taking down any and all clips is going to get noticed. It isn’t any litigation that will destroy youtube, it’s google themselves that will force everyone off. Wasting their own 1.65 billion.

Depressing. Who would have guessed in 1994 that our bright new internet future would be ruined by corporate cobblers?
If the likes of Comedy Central had even an ounce of nouse they’d realise that all these clips on YouTube would be the best sort of publicity for their shows.
Gah! I’m confused, annoyed, depressed and downright angry at the complete lack of … oh never mind, no use getting wound up, they always win

Remember that Comedy Central is owned by Viacom and its majority stockholder is Sumner Redstone who also owns CBS and National Amusements the company that owns the Mutiplex Cinema chain so don’t be so surprised .Sumner was also the Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Theatre Owners and is still a Board member.

For people not living there, it was an excellent way to watch those shows or even clips of the shows. Jon Stewart even mentioned YouTube lots of times and told the viewers to watch clips through YouTube.
Bad move Comedy Central

Most YouTube users aren’t well-versed in corporate affairs, aren’t aware of the incestuous web of holdings, executives and the like. It makes trying to come to terms with things like this hard enough for people with some knowledge - most people just get annoyed.

Most of the episodes can still be found on Myspace sites. Wonder why they can be on there and not on youtube
