Telus drops cellphone porn plan
p2pnet.net news:- Canada’s Telus Mobility has abandoned its interesting plan to peddle porn.
Its was to have started selling pornographic pictures at $3-4 each, but the scheme was attacked by Raymond Roussin, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Vancouver, among others. He said he was considering cancelling contracts with Telus.
But all is now well following Telus’ change of heart.
“No one was more pleased than Archbishop Raymond Roussin, SM, who, for over two weeks, spearheaded efforts to fight the wireless-provider’s decision to offer pornographic materials for a fee,” says the BC Catholic.
“I am pleased and grateful that Telus has decided to remove itself from the business of profiting from pornography,” it has Roussin stating.
Telus is generously allowing anyone who’d disconnected in disgust over the porn issue to “re-establish their contracts” without extra charges, “as long as they if they reconnected within 30 days,” says the story.
The company said its cellphone porn was to have been available “in a very responsible way”.
