Google vs Googledatingsite
p2pnet.net news:- Google’s UK arm is after a Dutch entrepreneur who registered four domains which included ‘Google’ in the name.
Marcel van der Werf’s Googledatingsite.nl, Googleonlineshop.com, Googlecommunity.nl and Googlestore.nl infringe on its trademark, says ‘Do No Evil’.
However, “A brand is linked to a product, but not to the alphabet,” WebWereld Netherlands has van der Werf saying.
The name isn’t a brand: it’s a way to reach a computer and is, “merely an indication and not a brand,” the story has him saying.
Some of the sites were hosted in England and, “The hosting provider had, urged by Google, disconnected the database from Googledatingsite.nl,” says the story.
So Van der Werf, who feels he’s feels the victim of an “intimidating action,” moved it to Russia, adds WebWereld.
When we went for a look, Googledatingsite.nl, Googleonlineshop.com, and Googlestore.nl were down, but Googlecommunity.nl was still online.
