‘DRM is absurd’
p2pnet.net news:- One picture is worth a thousand words, goes the saying, and to prove the point, Grooveshark launched a really neat Flickr-based Public Service project built around a statement, “DRM is absurd”.
Grooveshark is a crew with an, “online service that rewards you for sharing, reviewing, and discovering new music”.
It goes on, “Visual analogies help in explaining why DRM is bad. Help us educate the public by adding pictures to this group to help explain the downfalls of DRM. Prizes will be offered for the best submissions, however the details have yet to be finalized.”
Below are some of the entries as of 6:30 am Pacific:

The iTunes items is the artrim’s work, the locked-up DVD is from rebopper, and the bike with wobbly wheels is from richardmasoner.
Stay tuned for details.
Oh, we will

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

The entertainment industry is a hobbling toddler. The general populace is a graceful jogger. DRM is the toddler’s slippery chocolatey fingers fumbling madly in vein to yank the jogger’s shirt. It won’t be long until the jogger is a speck in the distance.

OT is right…
The Economist and the BSA? Objectivity? You might as well ask meth dealers how they feel about drug abuse. THEY say the “pirated” software is “worth $262″ per machine. The public, AKA “the market” seems to have a different opinion. Attempting to lock down stupidly overpriced software with DRM is not the answer, if that’s what your post was even about…

I agree DRM is absurd, why don’t we do away with DRM on money as well and we can all share that.

Your sarcastic suggestion has a good bit of non-sarcastic merit. Troll much?
