Man shot in pirate CD arrest

p2pnet.net News:- Soon, someone will die in the war launched by the major movie studios and record labels to protect their bottom lines.

Malaya’s The Star online reports a 20-year-old VCD seller is in critical condition after being shot during a struggle with seven Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement officers in Penang, yesterday.

“In the 9.45pm incident, the slug from an officer’s semi-automatic pistol also hit a customer of a nearby coffeeshop in the back after it penetrated the VCD seller’s chest,” says the story, going on:

“State CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said the incident occurred when the enforcement officers were trying to seize some VCDs the youth was selling outside the coffeeshop.

“There was a struggle which led to an enforcement officer opening fire. The shot was at close range and it penetrated the youth’s chest and hit the patron of a coffeeshop, who was having his dinner, in the back.”

The Star quotes the police officer as saying, “An assortment of items such as the iron stand of the VCD stall, which could have been used as a weapon, were recovered at the scene. We will need to determine if any of these items were used to attack the officers.”

This happened in Malaya. But it could just as easily have been in Mexico, say.

Police cooperation around the world with entertainment industry faux cops is now a given.

Our picture shows a Mexican police officer taking aim at a cameraman, from the look of it, during a raid on Mexico City’s Tepito market, as reported by Big Music enforcement organization the IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industries).

“An assortment of items such as the iron stand of the VCD stall, which could have been used as a weapon, were recovered at the scene….”

Indeed. Iron stands are high caliber weapons and if I saw someone about to use one I’d take them down with deadly force.

When an unarmed suspect - who’s only crime is selling videos on a streetcorner - requires 7 cops to subdue, and then shoot him, it paints a sad picture of law enforcement.

These poor countries should not even be protecting Hollywood’s lucrative industry. Who is pushing them to do this and what is in it for them?

That line caught my attention too. I’m sure that VCD peddler was a real danger to society. We are talking about MOVIES here. Not meth or guns or even bootleg alcohol. Movies!!! And these “Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement officers” open fire on a crowded public street? The people who made “Miss Congeniality” should have died of embarrassment but for someone to get shot over copyright infringement of crap like that is truly a crime against all humans.

I lived in Penag in 1995-1996 This guy was shot on Gotleib Street (actually Jalan Gotleib) from the time of day sound like its a night market, one of which is where we used to eat, the other at the end of Gotleib which they would have named (actually on a diff st at the corner). The only place i know of would be the place we used to eat, the way they descrbed it as well. On a side note the area of Penang that was hit by the Tsunami is about a 5 min drive from there…

    Scary.

There was an African merchant named Ousmane Zango (I’ve seen it also spelled Zongo) who was killed by New York city police May 22, 2003 when they raided a wharehouse trying to crack down on pirated CDs.

I have news for you boys and girls.

Incidents like these will go only get worse.

I know it’s obscene when the mpaa and the riaa has it’s own so called “gestapo police force” in many places in europe without any legal sanction or “official status” as peace officers.

In other words they are just a mindless lynch mob.

Do you think professional bootleggers are stupid?

I would think big time cd and dvd pirates also deal drugs and have access to high tech weapons and they would not think twice about cutting a mpaa “oinker” into little pieces and throwing their fucking sorry cut up ass in a garbage dumpster.

I mean the very thought of it all a bunch of half ass “rent - a - pigs ” getting into a shootout with a bunch of criminial types and of course innocent bystanders getting killed.

If the riaa and the mpaa are really serious about pirating why don’t they take on the big drugdealing and bootlegging cartels?

The answer is mpaa rent a cops are just a bunch of pussy want a be’s that don’t have the nuggets to take on real criminials but just waste their time on small potato types.

I assure when a bunch of mpaa “oinkers” get killed and their smelly corpses are founding decomposing in garbage dumpsters or when law enforcement agencies get sick of a bunch of mindless dickheads doing their work for them and a lot of innocent people get killed in the crossfire the mpaa will back off.

    BOTTOM LINE:

    IT WILL GET MORE VIOLENT.
