France orders closure of US site
p2pnet.net News:- French ISPs have been ordered to stop clients from accessing AARGH, a website hosted in the US which France’s J’accuse says is disseminating revisionist anti-Jewish propaganda, according to Yahoo! Actualités.
The judgement, from a Paris court, came on June 13 after an attempt in April by the J’accuse to have the US sites hosting AAARGH block access to French surfers brought only partial results.
Two of the three hosts, OLM and Globat had agreed to the demands of the French court, but a third, ThePlanet.com, was still providing access as of May 30, the cut off date for the first injunction rendered in April.
The French court had also asked the American hosts to provide detailed information about the people behind AARGH.
The failure to comply with either portion of his judgment would bring financial penalties to the American hosts, ruled the Paris court, and under that decison, ThePlanet.com is racking up 5,000 euros (a little over $6,000) per day for continuing to host AARGH and it, OLM and Globat are also looking at 2,000 euros per day for not providing the requested info on the site owners, says ZDNet France.
The question, of course, is: can a French court enforce such legal penalties on a foreign company based outside of France?
In the meanwhile, J’accuse is now trying the next step allowed by French law: to block access on French soil.
The ISPs are France Télécom, Free, AOL, Tiscali, Club Internet, Télé2, Suez Lyonnaise Télécom, Neuf Télécom, NC Numéricâble and le GIP Renater. They have 10 days to, as the judge has ordered, "put in place all of the measures needed to block, on French soil, access" to the content of the website in question, says Yahoo France.
J’accuse president Marc Knobel believes "French law on electronic commerce is very clear on the subject," says ZDNet France. If the site authors are anonymous and if the host(s) refuse to cooperate, blocking access is the next step.
Knobel is known in some circles for initiating the move to stop the sale of Nazi items on eBay and other auction sites, says ZDNet.
Meanwhile, AARGH, short for L’Ass.des Anciens Amateurs de Récits de Guerre et d’Holocauste, was founded in 1996 and is still unabashedly online.
According to the site, "Revisionists are people who want to know if what’s being said is true.". Mainly in French, it provides, "40,000 pages of documentation [on the Holocaust and Zionism], 200 books and 100 pamphlets, some for ‘free download.
Canadian p2pnet readers might recognise the name Ernst Zundel among authors showcased.
There are pages in seven other languages, including English, Russian and an Indonesian dialect, although the pages sampled in English weren’t very idiomatic.
In expectation of being blocked, the homepage provides links to anonymous sites.

Easy solution… fuck you france… you can’t close a website outside of your country…

Yay. The USA is always accused of trying to push it’s laws onto other countries (which seems to be true, especially concerning entertainment.)
I guess everyone else wants to do the same!

Doesn’t France have free speech?
I mean, I dont agree with people that say holocaust didn’t happen, but I _may want to look_ at the documents they have - as long they dont try to push it down my throat I want my options open.
And that is what free speach is all about… at least as far as I understand it…

I only recently learned about Ernst Zundel - I guess it was much bigger news in Canada. It’s amazing how a person can end up spending years in prison for doing nothing more than running a website - not in a “repressive” country like China or Burma, but here in the “land of the free” USA.
Why is it that anytime someone dares to dispute the official version of THE HOLOCAUST, there is Hell to pay?
This has got to be the most censored topic in the Western World, and the most dangerous taboo to break.

No we don’t have “free speech” nor has any country ever had anyway…
But compared to the U$A we have a lot of restrictions/prohibitions like this which have not prevented a fascist leader from reaching the 2nd turn of the presidential election (we can vote directly for president, unlike the U$A where only the richests choose the president…).
We can’t criticize the police or the army, we can’t tell anything good about “illegal” drugs like cannabis (what about dangerous legal drugs like alcohol, coffee, prozac/valium ?), we can’t make racist speech (I say it again, it hasn’t prevent us from having a fascist police state like in the U$A)

A court-order from a French court is not enforcable inside the boarders of the U.S. of A…and vice versa. Sorry, but even a federal judge in New York even said that. It’s interesting that they didn’t learn the first time around when Yahoo.com (not Yahoo.fr) was selling Nazi paraphanillia on their auction site.

Maybe they will take the hint in round 2? Probably not.

Gee, could the whole taboo be based on the utter disrespect for the victims denying the occurence creates? Let me give you an example of a similar but hypothetical situation. Suppose you went into a predominantly african american neighborhood and started claiming that slavery never happened, that it was a vast conspiracy aimed at making people feel sorry for them and in order to create affirmative action programs. Do you think anyone would be annoyed or offended? Now further imagine that there were relatives of former slaves still alive. Would they appreciate having the hardships and misfortune of their friends and families denied and mocked?
If I knew how I would personally crash this site into the ground. In case you haven’t picked up on it, I am Jewish and I take this very seriously. A big F*CK you to the above writer and everyone else who thinks millions of people being tortured and killed is just a story.

I am Jewish myself, and I lost relatives in the Holocaust. I find these holocaust denial site reprehensable. However as much as I hate WHAT they say, I have to defend their right to voice their opinion. The moment any country or any government can start curtailing free speech, the Holocaust can happen again.
Today’ France can regulate Nazi speech. Tommorrow, France can regulate negative speech about the military. Tommorrow, the French government may be able to regulate (suppress) speech about government abuse. Anyone with half a brain can look at the evidence and see the extent of the Nazi atrocities.
As for what I think about the Nazi propaganda site, I give a big F*CK you to the operator(s) of the site. However, stopping these b4$t4rds from being able to operate this site invites laws that will forbid the exposure to new incidents of government abuse.

Ernst Zundel and revisionists do not deny that atrocities were committed against Jews during WWII. They question whether gas chambers, those “weapsons of mass destruction” of WWII actually existed. When you compose yourself and stop being emotional, you will find that there is no credible evidence that gas chambers existed. The allegation is Allied atrocity propaganda. Sorry, guys, no one lies like the US and Britain. 911 is a lie. The Gulf of Tonkin was a lie. Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction were a lie. How many lies do you need before you wake up? No one is more abused by the “big H” story than Jews themselves. They are horribly abused emotionally and mentally. It makes them support Israel with no reservations. Like 911, it is a myth based on some facts, and was fabricated for political purposes to change the world. The Holocaust and 911 both changed the world, but they are both myths.

Hi Nev,
Suppose you find yourself not in a negro township, but in a Palestinian refugee camp your tribe helped bring into existence and you claimed that the zionists never had any hand in causing them, would you think they believed you?
Especially when a kosher rocket would be fired from a USA donated helicopter into a crowd of women and children(”militants” of course)next to where you were standing, would you feel proud of being a jew? Please stop muttering about your holohoax! You are forgetting that jews are at present murdering and torturing Palestinians and stealing their land and destroying their lifelyhood as if you were the owners of the place!
If your holohoax was really as you try us to believe, than PROOF IT!!
Forcing silly laws to ban revisionist voices only serves to show that you have nothing to back up your inflated holy “6 million” figure of jewish victims to be taken into account, the other some 50 million war dead are not that important for you.
Jews squeezing money out of Germany by charging so much per head of jew victim ,is only done by jews! That´s why you needed your 6 million! You make me sick!
I observed that he fourletter word you put in your message contained a 6 pointed star??? Very fitting!

I tend to agree that this mania for enforcing the ‘holocaust’ has gone too far, especially in France, Canada and Germany. People being locked away for saying things that are daily being proved more true, smacks of the dark ages, when people were tortured etc for saying that the earth was round, rather than flat.
However, I don’t see how 9/11 is perceived as a myth. Maybe the officially accepted reasons for it are a myth, but the actual event is not a creation of hollywood or anything. The tyruth is that America aided and abetted Israel in all her efforts to grab real estate, and still does. Iraq was invaded twice to remove the threat to Israel.
