Janet Jackson ripple effect -
CBS and Walt Disney’s ABC network think they’ve found a way to stop Janet Jackson from making unscripted revelations during the February 29 Academy Awards broadcast.
Both companies say they’ll use ‘enhanced’ delays so they can pip any untoward incidents in the pre-bud, says Reuters here.
During this year’s Sleaze Bowl, as some critics have dubbed the Super Bowl, her right um, well, uh, breats Braets bast breast was exposed while she and Justin Timberlake entertained the audience during half-time.
In the meanwhile, a Tennessee woman has filed a class action lawsuit "to explore the damage that Jackson’s nipple has caused to our national psyche and put a financial value on that damage," as AZ Central sums it up here.
And there’s more.
NBC cut a few seconds of footage from its February 5 episode of ER that showed an elderly woman’s breast in the background of a scene," says Zap2it here.
The network apparently made the decision after hearing concerns from its affiliates, says Zap2it, adding, " ‘Though we continue to believe the shot is appropriate and in context … we have unfortunately concluded that the atmosphere created by this week’s events has made it too difficult for many of our affiliates to air this shot’," NBC says in a statement.

I think that this whole thing is way out of hand. Leave Janet alone! It was just a boob for crying out loud. I mean its not like she dropped her drawers and fingered herself on stage or anything.

The reaction to her actions , whether they were intended or unintended, are absolutely idiotic. The only thing you don’t see nowadays on a large number of members of the female population is the nipple portion of the breast. To quote an old saying,”methinks they doth protest to much”.

The only thing a class action lawsuit does is make lawyers rich, and increase insurance premiums for the rest of us. They don’t have any effect of bettering society.

I believe that the Networks have taken it too far. I believe because of the mere fact that she is in deed a “Jackson” . . . that they will push her as far as they possibly can. With that . . . Why in the world is America so bothered by the incident? Do we remember what our at one time leader of this nation did? Yes President Clinton went way beyond the so and so “call of duty” . . . why must we continue to torture Ms. Jackson? And we call this Land . . . America? What ever happened to the land of the free? I believe that not only are you trying to hurt Ms. Jackson; but more so harassing her in a way that is un-called for. Apologies have been made; not once . . .but twice… Do you honestly think with that STAR Status that she has . . . She would intentionally ruin her career is such a way? Didn’t we all see the after affects of the so-called “stunt”. . . . Where Ms. Jackson was holding and covering herself and looking up at Mr. Timberlake with such dis-belief? Do we care to start on Mr. Timberlake himself. As to the one that caused the uproar . . . . Mr. Timberlake did in-deed pull the final straw. He was the one that pulled the wardrobe off. If in fact . . . Mr. Timberlake stated that he was embarrassed and would never pull such a “stunt” . . . Himself not only as an individual of the industry would know about the standards of performing on National Television; And if the entire portion was to be removed to intentionally expose the breast of Ms. Jackson . . . Then Mr. Timberlake would have not . . and should have not done such an act knowing the standards. America is now criticizing Ms. Jackson alone; but when in fact it was Mr. Timberlake that could have NOT pulled the wardrobe. So with that; I believe it was an accident not to expose the entire breast; but to merely expose the “red-lace” undergarment. Not giving her the opportunity to even defend herself in any such way; America was quick to take a stance against her. She has been banned from award shows; countless number of individuals and e-mails about the incident; and it’s all negative towards Ms. Jackson. And yet the investigation has proved nothing thus far as being intentional. Do we forget all the great deeds she has done for this country as well. . . So many charitable organizations she has helped; she has time and time again helped the children of this country with personal time, assistance, efforts, and money. As if the children in this country have not proven time and time again - that they not know more about the sexual human body; than any of our past generations. The networks along with the FCC are possibly imposing fines; lawsuits are being acted upon, and America has nothing to do but sit here at use this incident as an “example” of who we are; what we are; and showing the world how we strive towards hurting one of our own. How many shows have been aired during the so-called “6:00 am to 10:00 pm” slot that have so many sexual references to them. All in all; it’s still sex. The act of sex is performed during these hours on countless number of day-time shows. Even though they do not show the act; they are still referenced to “sex”. As if the children of this country do not know what is being shown - and furthermore; have not been exposed to such programming from all Television Networks. And one false move . . . and she’s the backlash to this country . . . Grow Up America!

I think the Jackson show was a good start. Although I’ve never purchased a Janet Jackson CD, I’ve been a quiet fan since Good Times when I was a little kid. I’m 30 now, and there is no good reason that I have never seen the woman’s boobs.
