Stallman backs Santangelo
p2p news / p2pnet: Gnu guru Richard Stallman has picked up on the Patti Santangelo Fight Goliath fund raising campaign.
On his personal page, under Long-term action items, Stallman posts:
“Donate to support the legal expenses of Patti Santangelo, mother of 5, is being sued by the RIAA because her children did music sharing.
“She refuses to settle.”
And she’s still refusing.
As of around 9:20 am EST, 109 people had contributed some $1700 : )
Stay tuned.
(Thanks, DaBlade)

I fully support knocking the RIAA down and fighting their law suites. My whole problem with Patti’s defense is this: She points the finger at Kazaa for allowing her children to download “illegal” music.
It’s not Kazaa’s fault that they don’t have any sort of means to notify you if your child is trying to create an account or download pirated media. It’s YOUR fault. YOUR child is YOUR responsibility. If you don’t want YOUR child to download media or play adult games then lock YOUR computer!!! If you don’t want your child to watch violent or adult movies on tv then watch what YOUR child is doing. It’s time for parents to stop passing the buck on to the developers and publishers and take responsibility for their children.
Again, I do not agree with the RIAA and MPAA. I find their mafia like extortion tactics and overpriced media to be distasteful. However, I also cannot support a negligent parent for displacing the blame.

You and your RIAA lovin spin, get off it. She is fighting RIAA/MPAA tactics in court. KAZAA is not in question, but RIAA/MPAA sleeze tactics only.
