Sweden’s new Pirate Party

p2p news / p2pnet: You call us pirates, so we’ll organize as pirates.

That’s the implicit message in Sweden’s newest political party called, appropriately enough, Piratpartiet ; )

Pirate Party says it’s said tired of being deemed criminals and terrorists for sharing a few measly files for no financial gain or loss to anyone and it its manifesto says it’s against seeing the developing world starve because the developed world refuses to share its intellectual property, says The Inquirer, going on:

“Its massage is that corporations are engaging in racketeering in the developing world and a few power hungry individuals and greedy corporate entities are infringing on privacy and integrity.

“Piratpartiet says that it will strike out immaterial law, ignore WIPO and WT, and annul any further treaties or policies that hinder the free flow of information.

“They will refuse to allow data retention nonsense based on terrorism claims or failed RIAA business models.”

Piratpartiet wants to “break the four per cent barrier (225 000 votes) this autumn to take up seats in parliament,” says The Inquirer, adding:

“Even if they the party gets no-one elected, it is clear that it does represent a backlash against copyright protection laws and the antics of the RIAA and its ilk.”

From the site:

Anyone care to translate this and/or any other part of the post?

Stay tuned.

Phase 1: Collect signatures to the election authority.

We need 1500 signatures before last february to be able to participate in the general election 2006. To have some margin, we will collect 2000 (signatures) before friday the 4th of february, so we will have some time to fix the administrative with the election authority.

Right now we are validating all the signatures. We have gotten more then 4000 signatures in less than 24 hours. Right now we are looking through them all to see if we can use them (with the election authority).

Right Now: 4752 of 2000 signatures (4752 still unconfirmed). 31 days to our goal.

Note: The election authority didn’t accept e-signatures so people will have to send in them on paper.

Sorry, but that doesn’t generate any good translation… it just replaces the few words it knew with the english words and fucks up åäö.
