Animated Jesus, Muhammed cartoons
p2p news / p2pnet: Talk Show Host Threatened Over Muhammed Cartoons, Islamic Nations Outraged Over Muhammed Cartoons, Still more on the Muhammed cartoons and, Iran, Morocco protest Muhammed cartoons.
They were the headlines to the first four Google ‘Muhammed’ reports at round 6:00 am this mornng.
Last September Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten ran a set of satirical cartoons featuring the prophet Muhammed.
For the newspaper, it was a demonstration of freedom of speech. But for Islamic extremists, it was a golden opportunity to promote even more hatred around the world.
In the west, Christianity, and everything else, is fair game for satires, parodies, lampoons and every other brand of humour. Some of the funniest, and most biting, Simpson episodes have Homer in meaningful dialogue with God, for example. And check out the Gary Larson cartoon on the right. Or use your favourite search engine to find other examples. There are plenty of them.
When it comes to religion, I’m a recovering, formerly hard-core, alcoholic and drug addict (19 years sober, and counting) and although I don’t believe in God as such, I’m a spiritual person and I believe absolutely in a power greater than myself.
And not at all incidentally, my brother- and sister-in-law are Muslims.
Back to the Muhammed cartoons, when a Danish reader told me about them a while back, I didn’t run them not because I thought I’d upset p2pnet’s Muslim readers, but because they simply had no relevance, even as OT items.
However, you’d have seen them here had they had an appropriate connection. And that said, below are two online examples of animated cartoon satires featuring both Jesus and Muhammed, dancing. And there’s a also third set of high-stepping hamsters ; )
Life is short. Where would we be without humour? And where would we be without freedom of speech?
(The url was sent in by a reader who didn’t want to be identified either by name or by religion. Thanks, X)
Cheers!

As I said before it has nothing to do with god. It’s a culture clash… individual rights and free speech are ingrained in our culture and irreverant depictions didn’t happen over night. To them it happened over night. Free speech, individual rights, woman’s rights are completely different ideas to them and certainly not how they were raised . They probably think we want to crush their culture also. China also has a different culture…you probably heard it before a culture of conformity. Imagine what that is like.
All that said…There are only two things wrong in the world. Politics and Religion.

>>and although I don’t believe in God as such,
But I bet you put a christmas tree up. That’s culture.

>>Some of the funniest, and most biting, Simpson episodes have Homer >>in meaningful dialogue with God
In the Simpsons and almost every cartoon the figures have only 4 fingers…but the Simpson God has 5 fingers.
My favorite Simpson line…paraphased
Homer- “Which Religion is correct?”
God-”THEY ALL ARE! WELL…EXCEPT THE UNITARIANS THEY HAVE IT COMPLETELY WRONG.”
Generally it’s the Unitarians that get beat on in the Simpsons…I assume because they understand a good joke.

—But I bet you put a christmas tree up—
We don’t, actually. We just string lights in the living room area and give each other our presents. But that’s culture too : )
Cheers!

Apparently, the most ‘offended’ and ‘outraged’ Muslim critics of the set of Danish cartoons either didn’t look at them carefully, or never even saw them. None of them is making ‘fun’ of Mohammad or Islam, but they are sharply critical of those who commit acts of violence and other atrocities in the name of Mohammad or for the sake of Islam.
Apparently the incensed, allegedly devout Muslims are going to borrow a page from the RIAA book of strategy and keep repeating the fallacy that the cartoons were making fun of Mohammad and the religion of Islam over and over and over until their false assertion is accepted as the truth or there is so much confusion over the issue that the point and message of the publication of the cartoons is completely drowned out in noisy rhetoric.
“If you can not refute an opposing point with facts or logic than distract everyone from it so they won’t pay attention.”
Example: “So George W. Bush was really AWOL from his military obligation in the early 1970s?” “Well, the official, infallibly accurate military records show he got paid for going to the dentist, so he couldn’t have been AWOL. Beside was Kerry really in Cambodia on that Christmas Day? Or did he just fabricate some reports to submit for the official records?”

Do take a look at the people who started the whole thing.
Jyllands-Posten
Until recently they have been a very local Danish nuisance.
Not so any longer.
This is a newspaper with a tradition. They have track record and reputation.
Here is a translation of a story about their jubilations in 1933 when Hitler took over.
http://home4.inet.tele.dk/jensguld/JyllandsPesten.htm
There is also a slight mentioning of their opinions about the Jews. OK, these days they love the off-noses, but they most indubitably did not love them then. Today it is the off-colors that they hate. The more we are different the more we are the same. And that goes twice for Jyllands-Posten.

Well its quite racist to assume all muslims are terrorists or have hatred to western cultures or so. People keep on throwing unnecessary racist comments on muslims since 9/11, but have they done that to christians when a group of militians bombed the oklahoma building? or when germans burned the Jews? or when england and france invaded countries for absolutely no reason in the past? I think NOT. These people are a group of lunatics FULL STOP and it should not be, on any basis, generalized on muslims as you only see the negative side on television, not knowing that these people are a minority and most muslims condemn these actions, and I have seen it.
Now concerning the pictures on Mohammed they were very racist, despite the Newspapers “so called” good intentions, but on the other hand people shouldn’t have turned all violent and rioted as they should have dealt with the situatiuon rationally. Many people have the concept of Freedom all wrong. Freedom is doing anything you want AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T AFFECT SURROUNDING PEOPLE, in this case it has upset many, and in this case it isn’t considered free speech but just a bunch of nonsense.

This is stupid to make a fuss over a funny picture. Jews and Cristians don’t Get mad over pictures of God or Jesus many people are crying asses for geting mad over this. Why are people so mad at freedom of speech. I think everyone should calm down, it’s only a cartoon. South Park shold not be afraid of any threats. South Park must put back that episode or end South Park because pissing people off because of their faults is what South Park is all About. People are just to sensitive. Just laugh and it’s all over. Print and pass this to all the people you see. This has been By a 12 year-old boy.
P.S. Stop crying and think stratigy
