AnyDVD beta’s ARccOS support
p2p news / p2pnet: "Looks like there"s a new Sony Arccos protection out there!"
So posts Southern Comfort on CDfreaks, which observes, "A couple months back, Piper analyst Gene Munster reported that Sony was going to try and save development costs, by switching to Macrovision RipGuard instead of continuing on with their own ARccOS protection for DVDs. The same Macrovision scheme is already being used by The Walt Disney Company for some of their products.
"I guess for one, I would rather not see Sony giving any support to Macrovision and as long as SlySoft is around, ARccOS is not much of a problem for backups.
"Just remember, this particular update is a Beta, so if you are not having any problems with AnyDVD, it might be wise to hold off a few days or so prior to updating."
Southern Comfort says new in this version has:
- Added support for new versions of the Sony Arccos protection to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- Support for Windows Vista UAC
- Individual drive settings window is shown after global settings change in setup dialog and after wake up from S3 power saving
Bug Fix:
- AnyDVD did not always request a required reboot after setup- Updated languages
