Secretary fired for blog posts

p2p news / p2pnet: La Petite Anglaise is a blog by 33-year-old British secretary Catherine and it represents, “slices of my life in Paris,” she says, also posting:

“Paris has been my home for a decade. After living ‘in sin’ for 8 years, I left my partner for a man I met on my blog. I now live alone with my daughter Tadpole; her daddy, Mr Frog, lives nearby.

“Just when I thought things were back on an even keel, I got dooced. Welcome to my life …”

Dooced?

In April she was, “called in by superiors at the Paris office of British accounting firm Dixon Wilson and told she was being dismissed for gross misconduct,” says The Sydney Morning Herald.

She was told she was being suspended pending dismissal. So what upset her bosses?

“There is one embellished account of accidentally showing her cleavage while helping to set up a video conference meeting. And she refers to an office Christmas party where someone breaks the ‘unwritten rule’ of pulling his cracker before the senior partner and his wife have pulled theirs,” says The Daily Telegraph, going on:

“The senior partner is described as ‘very old school’, a man who ‘wears braces and sock suspenders, stays in gentlemen’s clubs when in London and calls secretaries typists. When I speak to him, I can’t prevent myself from mirroring his plummy Oxbridge accent’.”

But they’re, “intended as humorous anecdotes, nothing more,” the story has her saying.

Meanwhile, she’s lodged a case with the prud’hommes - a French employment tribunal. It’s the first of its kind in France, adds The Daily Telegraph, and claims compensation of up to two years’ pay, or about £54,000.

Good thing Catherine doesn’t live in Canada.
