p2pnet.net News:- Toshiba says it has the world’s first HD DVD drive for notebook PCs integrating a blue-violet laser diode able to read and write to HD DVD-R discs, as well as offering support for high-density HD DVD-ROM discs, including high definition movie and video images.

And, “it’s got all the functionality of a super multi-drive, with high-speed read and write to all standard DVD and CD format discs,” says Tech Digest.

“At only 12.7mm in height, it meets the space specifications for slim drives integrated into notebook PCs (helped by HD DVD discs being of similar size to standard DVDs).”

Sample shipments of the new SD-L902A are scheduled to start by year-end, says the DigiTimes.

Neither report mentions possible price.
